2003 OCTOBER 30 #303
One of my current record collecting obsessions is old exercise records, and this is one of my favorites.
So what is this thing called Slenderide? Well, it's basically a rickety looking stationary bicycle that apparently came with an album of guided instruction. Side one focuses on basic exercises, but side two takes you on a sound tour of the world's great cities: Tokyo, Tijuana, Rio de Janeiro, and of course, Honolulu.
What's strange is that every other stop on the Slenderide tour focuses on beautiful scenery, yet for some reason all the narrator can think to talk about in Honolulu is a delicious roast pig. It's an interesting concept, but describing the delicious entrees at a luau to a person trying to exercise is just cruel.
