Jodie Foster - La Vie C'est Chouette
from the film "Moi, Fleur Bleue" aka "Stop Calling Me Baby" (1977)
SHOCK CINEMA: "French jailbait drama ... a little-known dollop of EuroTrash..."
from "The Teen Aging of Jodie Foster" by Louise Farr, April 1978:
"Jodie Foster gives a polite little yawn behind slightly chewed fingernails. She didn't sleep well last night. Eventually had to bury the phone underneath a pile of pillows. These kids kept calling. "Hi, I'm a fan of yours." "Hi, you don't know me, but I'd like to be your pen pal." She thinks it's crazy. "Look," she says patiently, sitting there in her preferred uniform of jeans, tweed jacket, and white cotton blouse, "I'm just a normal American kid."
A normal American kid who's stayed away from Los Angeles' Lycee Francais school for six months so that she could go to France to star in Moi, Fleur Bleue as a tough-talking French teenager in love with a poet. A normal American kid who's in town for six days of interviews at the Polo Lounge, photo sessions, then more interviews to promote her latest Disney release, Candleshoe, in which she plays a tough-talking American teenager who, presumably because it's a Disney movie, isn't in love with anyone. A normal American kid whose fifteenth birthday bash will be thrown at a chic Paris club to promote her first record, "When I Look at Your Face"-a talking-over-the-music disco number."
"La Vie C'est Chouette" is the flipside to the song mentioned above.
It's a song that's so good that it's also the b side
to Jodie Foster's other
single, "Je T'Attends Depuis La Nuit Des Temps."
