Princess Ramona - Then I Start To Yodel
In 1985 I lived in a warehouse across the street from a U-STORE-IT facility in Vancouver. I was on welfare and certainly living on the economic margins and thus I checked the storage facility's dumpster several times each day for the treasures that were left behind. I found everything from chairs to 10-speed bikes to German beer steins and cassette tapes. One such tape had a hand-written label saying "Princess Ramona" and was one of the most amazing things I'd ever heard. Princess Ramona yodelled for Jesus. I sat spellbound by the very possibility that this was true. During a move I lost the tape and I was certain I would never hear her again. People would look at me in disbelief when I told them about Princess Ramona and even I was starting to wonder if I'd actually had such a tape. One afternoon in a thrift store in Vancouver I was flipping through records and there she was. On vinyl, no less, with a big, glorious picture of the Princess in all her finery. I hope you enjoy her as much as I have.
