Julia Loktev lives and works in New York. Her work has been exhibited in America and Europe and featured at various international film festivals. She received the award for best documentary direction at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival for Moment of Impact (1998). Julia made independent feature film, Day Night Day Night, about an aspiring young female suicide bomber. The project was be shot half in HDCAM and half in HDV and transferred to 35mm. Loktev calls the project, "an inaction movie" as it is ultimately a film where nothing actually happens.
