Ivan Cardoso (b. 1952) H.O. 1979 (1979) Ivan CARDOSO (1952, Brazil) is a filmmaker known for his particular style called 'Terrir', which is a combination of the words terror and rir, which means to laugh in Portuguese. His films are immediately identifiable by their bombastic combination of classical horror tropes, 'pornochanchada' (a genre of sex comedy films produced in Brazil) and parody. He began making films in 1970 and continues to make films that Cardoso himself describes as speaking "the universal language of the genre film" with a distinct "Brazilian swing".
