Joachim Schloemer The Day I Go To The Body (2002) Was born near Cologne, Germany. After studying dance and choreography at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, Mark Morris engaged Joachim Schloemer as a dancer for the Théatre de la Monnaie in Brussels, and shortly after, he founded his own company JOSCH. Within the following 10 years as ballet director in Ulm, Weimar and Basel he created more than 80 choreographic works for his own company and for other ensembles, such as Ballet de l'Opéra de Lyon, Singapore Dance Theatre, Provincial Dances Jekaterinenburg and Mikhail Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project. Since the end of the 90ies, Joachim Schloemer has not only been choreographing dance, but also directed and created opera and theatre productions dissolving more and more the borders between the different arts. That was the origin of pieces like ›La Guerra d'Amore at the Theater Basel which opened the Berliner Theatertreffen in May 2000 and his Artaud project ›Die Nervenwaage for the Burgtheater Wien. Apart from his recent works created for and shown at Salzburger Festspiele, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Theater Basel, Luzerner Theater, Schauspielhaus Köln, Burgtheater Wien, Wiener Festwochen, Zellerbach Hall San Francisco/Berkley and other places, Joachim Schloemer wrote and directed two dance films: ›The Platform and ›Electric Boy. Joachim Schloemer has been awarded the Otto-Kasten-Preis of German theatre directors and the German Critics Award.
