Danced to music by Ysaye and Ligeti, Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker's Achterland represents a climax in the structural and theatrical exploration of the tension between music and dance and man and women, with playful, athletic dancing, and striking imagery and costumes. It was first performed in 1990, and this 1994 recording unites almost all the original cast.
