Carolyn Carlson b. 1943
Blue Lady, Revisited
Duration: 70 minutes

Blue Lady, Carolyn Carlson's mythical solo, has touched thousands of spectators around the world with its unforgettable images, influencing dreams, aspirations and emotions. The Venetian blinds, the dancer's red dress billowing around her and the last kiss swept away by the enchanting music are visions straight from Carlson's imagination. Premiered on 11 October 1983 at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, today it is being handed on to Tero Saarinen, the charismatic Finnish choreographer and performer. When he first danced at Le Colisée two seasons ago, he caused a sensation in Hunt, a brilliant solo based on the The Rite of Spring.

Profoundly connected by a shared artistic vision, the same aesthetic values and their Finnish origins, Carolyn Carlson and Tero Saarinen complement each other like Yin and Yang. A connection between two rich lives whose spiritual dimension nourishes their physical movements. Blue Lady brings the magic of this intimate sharing to the audience, offering precious, radiant moments that touch the soul and remain imprinted on the heart. Through their intense artistic bond we have the rare gift of an existing work reinvested by another being, another body. The piece is carried along by the vital passion of its performance and the eyes in which it is reflected.
